Texas Summer Sensational Mixed Sale with Ranch Gelding
Competition was held on a hot and steamy East Texas weekend
in Lufkin, Texas this past June 11th and 12th. The sale
prices were sizzling as well. There were 401 head consigned
and the sale resulted in 78% horses changing hands. The top
5 sales averaged $10,330. The top 10 averaged $9,285. The
top 15 averaged $8,710. The overall sale averaged a solid
$2,429.
Competition winners:
Grand Champion = Hip # 5,
Boon Blazen Jaz, a NCHA money earner of $2,000
this cute flashy 2004 Sorrel Gelding by Blue Bayou Boon was
consigned by West Farms of Pineville, La and was shown by
Thomas Bray. This gentle gelding was also the high seller of
the weekend commanding a sale price of $12,500.
Reserve Champion = Hip # 6,
Apttobe A Taz, this fancy 2004 Sorrel Gelding by
Pepto Taz was consigned by Cowboy Collection of Gainesville,
Texas and was shown by Todd Richardson.
Third Place
= Hip # 20, Peptos Lil Shorty, a 2005 Red Roan
Gelding by Sweet Lil Pepto consigned by K & S Quarter Horses
of Silsbee, Texas and was shown by Shawn Holden.
Fourth Place
= Hip # 25, Shorty Obrien, a 2006 Buckskin Gelding by
Short Oak was consigned by Joe Cunningham of Stonewall,
Louisiana and was shown by Tom Neel of Millsap, Tx
2nd High Seller for the week end was Hip # 186 Smokin
Boonlight, a beautiful 2004 Sorrel Mare by Boonlight Dancer
and out of the Smart Little Lena mare Smokin Hickory Lena.
This NCHA money earner of over $19,000 was consigned by
David Mikel Bateman of Quitman, Ga and was sold to Don
Latimer of Alberta, Canada.
